So I decided since color bars are VERY cute and take up WAY too much space in my profile, I'll put them in an entry so that way people won't have to be bothered by the loading time because quite honestly it pisses me off when I have to wait SO long for a profile to load so yeahs.

Fanlistings left out of the cut for a reason~:

Just a quick post seeing as how I am so totally not supposed to be on here but I need to pimp this comm:

I'm a co-mod now thanks to [info]ladynyks who made the comm in the first place. Also guh you are such an enabler with the not exactly subtle motives to have me love Simmons even more. Yes, perfect Simmons to my Leo. ♥

As for those prompt tables I promised, I'll definitely post them up sometimes this week maybe Thursday? and since I don't want to distract myself once we have more members, would you like me to post a f.a.q or are you going to do that? ANNND seeing as how you're already starting discussions and such, should we start other sort of prompts? And dammit, write me my Maggie-in-elevator smut please because omfg I never knew how much I needed it until you mentioned it. fdnkjsnfssdknflksd

Plus, just because it's worth mentioning, your icon of "I always wanted to be an astronaut" reminded me of an AU where Simmons is an astronaut. So now I can't get that idea out of my head, yeah this is all your fault but the blame is placed with love. :D♥

ETA: Also update on status of USB: sending it to casacarajo tomorrow and probably sending a letter to someone since I promised~♥</small

And I totally mean that in a good way. Now since I told [info]ladynyks I'd do this and thus hopefully enable others to see this wonderful series here you have a post telling you exactly what Tin Man is all about which in case you haven't noticed by way of my tweets and epic long comments with her on my LJ is like my crack at the moment.

ALSO SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS AHEAD. If you don't want to be spoiled skip down to the last cut where I explain WHY. Hopefully I've done the series some justice in my ramblings below... >.>;;

What? )

Who? )

Why? )

All in all this fandom is awesome and reminded me of the reason why I love fairytale-like stories so much... even if this isn't really fairytale but more like Sci-Fi but ehh you get my point. PLUS crossover possibilities with Hellboy 2? OMG I AM SO HAPPY. 8DDDDDDDDDDD

*Yes I got my siblings to watch it and honestly that makes this series even better because it's something ANYONE can enjoy even my picky brother.

I'll might as get this done now while I'm brainstorming for NaNo...

STEP ONE
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. [Note: Your home address is not required!]

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Carry all your thoughts across an open field )

Now back to NaNo, I'm already making progress as it is and I need to do more to at least get past the 10K tonight.

ETA: Am I the only one who giggles uncontrollably whenever she sees "damn straight" in the context of a slash fic? Because seriously, whenever I read Star Trek slash fic and I see this phrase which is a lot I might add I end up grinning like an idiot. |D;;

Basically this is a heads up to anyone who pays attention to this journal and doesn't see me normally during the day- I'm doing a semi-hiatus this school year.

Again.

My brother gave me a huge talk about me lazing off my AP classes during these past few days let's just say that my first Sunday off resulted in me staying up half the night working on Spanish Lit and Calculus...

I know, I know we've only been in school for like two weeks but seriously? I can't bullshit those classes. and it doesn't help that I have very little time to use the computer as it is Thus I'll be off of livejournal and chatting from Saturdays to Thursdays with only Fridays as my day to chat and talk read/write fic, and generally be lazy.

So yeah falling off the face of the earth for a bit, be back to normal in May. :DD

If you are reading this right now, you have more luxury than someone in Iran could ever hope for right now. If you are watching TV or a video on youtube, updating your status on Facebook, Tweeting, or even texting your friend, you are lucky. If you are safe in your home, and were able to sleep last night without the sounds of screaming from the rooftops, you need to know and understand what is happening to people just like you in Iran right now.

They are not the enemy. They are a people whose election has been stolen. For the first time in a long time, a voice for change struck the youth of Iran, just as it did for many people in the United States only seven months ago. Hossein Mousavi gained the support of millions of people in Iran as a Presidential candidate. He stands for progressiveness. He supports good relations with the West, and the rest of the world. He is supported with fervor as he challenges the oppressive regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

On Friday, millions of people waited for hours in line to vote in Iran's Presidential election. Later that night, as votes came in, Mousavi was alerted that he was winning by a two-thirds margin. Then there was a change. Suddenly, it was Ahmadinejad who had 68% of the vote - in areas which have been firmly against his political party, he overwhelmingly won. Within three hours, millions of votes were supposedly counted - the victor was Ahmadinejad. Immediately fraud was suspected - there was no way he could have won by this great a margin with such oppposition. Since then, reports have been coming in of burned ballots, or in some cases numbers being given without any being counted at all. None of this is confirmed, but what happened next seems to do the trick.

The people of Iran took the streets and rooftops. They shout "Death to the dictator" and "Allah o akbar." They join together to protest. Peacefully. The police attack some, but they stay strong. Riots happen, and the shouting continues all night. Text messaging was disabled, as was satellite, and websites which can spread information such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and the BBC are blocked in the country. At five in the morning, Arabic speaking soldiers (the people of Iran speak Farsi) stormed a university in the capital city of Tehran. While sleeping in their dormitories, five students were killed. Others were wounded. These soldiers are thought to have been brought in by Ahmadinejad from Lebanon. Today, 192 of the university's faculty have resigned in protest.

Mousavi requested that the government allow a peaceful rally to occur this morning - the request was denied. Many thought that it would not happen. Nevertheless, first a few thousand people showed up in the streets of Tehran. At this point, it is estimated that 1 to 2 million people were there. Mousavi spoke on the top of a car. The police stood by. For a few hours, everything was peaceful. Right now, the same cannot be said. Reports of injuries, shootings, and killings are flooding the internet. Twitter has been an invaluable source - those in Iran who still know how to access it are updating regularly with picture evidence. People are being brutally beaten. Tonight will be another night without rest for so many in Iran no older than I am. Tonight there is a Green Revolution.

I signed up for emails to be sent by Courage Campaign and this is so far one of them that I need to just post here. That TV ad really, really angered me so badly- it is just disgusting and wrong.

My partner, Drew, and I are getting married this Saturday. But not in California, where I grew up and my family has lived for more than thirty years.

Let me explain.

On May 1, 2008, we got engaged, even though our fundamental right to be married as a loving, committed couple was not legal at the time in the state of California. We made this momentous decision because we believed in affirming a lifelong partnership in the eyes of our family and friends, regardless of the state's failure to recognize our civil rights.

A mere two weeks later, the state Supreme Court announced its historic decision, establishing the constitutional right of same-sex couples to be married in California.

Like so many others, Drew and I were ecstatic. As we made our plans to marry, however, we learned that our rights might be taken away by Proposition 8. So we waited until after the November 4 election, because we wanted our vows to be as permanent as our intentions.

On November 4, 2008, our fundamental right to marriage in California was eliminated by the shocking passage of Proposition 8.

And that is why we will be legally married this coming Saturday in the state of Connecticut, where lawyers tell us we'll always have equal rights.

However, according to the state of California, our marriage will be meaningless.

This is not acceptable. Equality belongs to everyone and same-sex marriage should not be reserved for those who can only travel to another state, 3,000 miles away.

That's why I asked my family last week to make a $25,000 challenge grant to support the Courage Campaign's transformative "Camp Courage" training program for marriage equality activists -- a personal action in direct response to the National Organization for Marriage's $1.5 million "Gathering Storm" national TV ad campaign.

Your response to this challenge -- "turning fear into hope" -- has been phenomenal. In less than five days, your collective generosity has yielded $72,572, making it the most successful single response ever to a Courage Campaign community request for support.

I'm so inspired by this community's commitment to love, fairness and equality in the face of the religious right's fear-mongering TV ad.

And now I hope you'll join me in helping the Courage Campaign reach the amazing milestone of raising $100,000 online in response to this disturbing 60-second ad. Please click here to contribute what you can afford today (and watch the "Gathering Storm" ad, if you haven't seen it already):

http://www.couragecampaign.org/TurnFearIntoHope

I believe in the Camp Courage training program because it is laying the foundation of restoring marriage equality to California -- and it represents the future of community organizing. Modeled after Camp Obama, the program utilizes the "Story of Self" to transform personal experiences into compelling and authentic narratives that can persuade undecided voters.

To change the hearts and minds of our fellow Californians, we all need to tell our own stories about how Prop 8 has affected us, our families, and our friends. Just like I have today, by expressing why this is so very personal.

That's the only way we will win back our rights -- and the only way the marriages of so many same-sex couples will have meaning in California once again.

Let's make it to $100,000 for marriage equality today.

With much gratitude for your support,
Tom Dolby, joined by my future husband, Drew Frist

Please, those of you that can donate- do what you can AND SPREAD THIS.

STFU I KNOW I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE USING THIS SLOW FUCKING DESKTOP FOR LIVEJOURNAL BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT

“That’s why when someone asks me ‘Are gay rights civil rights?’ My answer is always ‘of course they are’. Civil rights… civil rights are positive legal prerogatives- the right to equal treatment before the law. These are the rights shared by everyone. There is no one in the United States who does not or should not enjoy or share in enjoying these rights. Gay and lesbian rights are not special rights in any way. It isn’t special to free from discrimination- it is an ordinary universal entitlement of citizenship… We’ve amended the U.S constitution only seventeen times, since the adoption of the Bill of Rights. Aside from Prohibition which was quickly acknowledged to be a mistake and repealed. We’ve amended the constitution only to expand and protect people’s rights- never to restrict them, never to take them away"

GUYS, GUYS WHERE ARE MY FELLOW AMERICANS? I NEED YOU GUYS TO SIGN THE PETITION TO GET CONGRESS TO TALK ABOUT HEALTH CARE THIS THURSDAY. I'm with Obama we can't afford to not talk about this and we need action NOW. Here's the message I included in case you need any tips and whatnot~

I have never had to pay for health insurance in my life and just recently I'm being forced to pay every month for care I used to receive freely. My parents pay enough as it is being that they are uninsured. They pay taxes, they obey the law- why shouldn't they be covered? And why should I be forced to pay now?

I'm serious guys there are plenty of other people too who are in a much worse situation than I am. We can't let this go ignored by congress.

Also seriously I love getting emails like this in my inbox- gosh this administration is awesome.
